How can I determine if my pet is a candidate for using these drops on its cataract?
The ideal candidate for the PetVision line of eye drops is:
- Not diabetic (Diabetic cataracts are very aggressive as they develop and can harm tissue in the lens, an event our eye drops can’t reverse. The best one can hope for in this case is to try and maintain what sight the pet has left by using PetVisionPro very soon after the pet is diagnosed as diabetic.
- Not on any type of steroid (neither systemic nor topical). Although it won’t harm the pet, the combination of PetVision line of eye drops and steroids will neutralize the eye drops and render them useless, thus throwing away good money. Should your pet be on a steroid, wait 2-3 weeks so as to allow the steroid to leave the system and then start on the particular drops for your pet.
- Does not have a Nuclear Cataract. Of the top 4 most common types of Cataracts, our formulations are excellent at addressing the Top 3 Cataracts: Anterior, Posterior and Cortical. Nuclear Cataracts are number 4 and the only one of the four our products cannot help. A Nuclear Cataract indicates that in the center of the lens the cells found there no longer have a nucleus of their own, in other words the nucleus of the cell is no longer viable. Thus the amino acids found in our solution can no longer interact with the cells forming the Cataract, and surgery is the only alternative.
With Cataracts in general, as with any other medical condition, the sooner one seeks help the higher the chances of improving ones condition. Depending on how long the pet has had the Cataracts will generally determine how long it will take to reduce the opacity in the eye(s).
After the initial package or two the eye will have experienced the all the improvement it can expect and the condition will plateau. Left unattended a Cataract will come back (our products are not marketed as a cure). In order to stay ahead of the curve we recommend another package of the eye drops used previously be employed every six months, used as directed, to maintain the eye’s clarity.
